Why Indian founders choose a Dutch BV

EU single-market access

A Dutch BV is an EU-incorporated company — a base inside the single market to trade, contract and operate across Europe from within the bloc.

EU VAT for selling in the EU

A Dutch BTW (VAT) number makes selling into the EU and onto EU marketplaces far simpler than invoicing Europe from an India-only entity.

English-friendly business hub

The Netherlands is one of Europe's most English-fluent, internationally connected business hubs, with a familiar limited-company form in the BV.

English remote service

Intake, articles, notary coordination and the KVK and Belastingdienst steps are handled in English. No Dutch and no travel needed.

Low entry cost

The BV has a €0.01 minimum share capital (Flex-BV), so establishing an EU entity does not require locking up capital.

A gateway to Europe

Many Indian founders and IT/SaaS companies use a Dutch BV as their European subsidiary or holding — a separate, EU-resident entity for European operations.

How it works from India

1. Remote KYC / Wwft

We collect your passport, proof of address and UBO details online for the notary's Wwft (anti-money-laundering) checks — no office visit.

2. Power of attorney

A volmacht lets the notary incorporate without you leaving India. Signed online or legalised locally.

3. Apostille on Indian documents

India is a Hague Convention country, so Indian public documents are legalised with an apostille (via the MEA) — we tell you what's needed and coordinate it.

4. Online notarial deed

Since 2024 a Dutch civil-law notary can execute the deed fully online. We are not the notary — we prepare everything and coordinate it.

5. Registered office & KVK

We arrange a Dutch registered address and register the BV at the KVK, giving you a KVK number and RSIN.

6. BTW & bank account

We arrange your BTW number and guide you toward banks that onboard non-resident-owned BVs.

The remote process, and the documents

A Dutch BV (besloten vennootschap) is the Dutch private limited company — a separate legal person with limited liability. It comes into existence only through a notarial deed of incorporation executed by a Dutch civil-law notary (notaris). We are an independent formation and bookkeeping office; we prepare the articles, UBO and KYC file, and a power of attorney (volmacht), then coordinate the notary and handle the KVK and Belastingdienst steps. Since 1 January 2024 the deed can be signed fully online, which is what makes a 100% remote BV possible from India.

Documents Indian founders typically need

  • A valid passport for each shareholder and director (for the notary's Wwft identity check).
  • A recent proof of address (utility bill or bank statement).
  • UBO details — who ultimately owns or controls the company.
  • Where public documents are required, an apostille under the Hague Convention (India issues these through the MEA and authorised agencies).

We confirm the exact list for your case at intake and prepare the file with you, so the notary's onboarding runs smoothly.

From India — FAQ

Do I need to travel to the Netherlands from India?

Usually not. Since 1 January 2024 the notarial deed can be executed online, and we incorporate on your behalf via a power of attorney (volmacht). Some bank or identity checks may still request a video step depending on your profile.

Why open a Dutch BV as an Indian founder?

A Dutch BV is an EU-incorporated company, giving Indian founders a base inside the European single market for EU customers, contracts, EU VAT and hiring — rather than serving Europe from an India-only entity.

How does remote KYC / Wwft verification work?

The Dutch notary must complete Wwft (anti-money-laundering) identity and ultimate-beneficial-owner checks before incorporating. We collect your passport, proof of address and UBO details online and prepare the file with you so there are no surprises.

Do I need to legalise my Indian documents with an apostille?

Usually yes. India is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so Indian public documents are legalised with an apostille (issued through the MEA and authorised agencies). We tell you which documents need one and coordinate it.
